What did the Romans do in 509 BCE that would inspire American colonists and thinkers in the late 1700's?

    I may be totally wrong, but from what I remember in Rome history, they started the republic in 509 BCE which caused them to overthrow their king Lucius Tarquinius Superbus. This may have inspired American colonists and thinkers int he late 1700's to rebel against what King George was saying and start their own country.
