Why do small state have equal power with large state in the senate

    Membership in the senate would be based on equal representation, small state wanted equal representation because they did not want to be over powered in votes by large states.

    This avoided larger state to control the national government.

    It made sure smaller population states and larger population states would have the same number of representations to make it fair.
