    Explanation:

    Zhou overthrew the Shang dynasty in 1046 BCE and established Xia dynasty. Zhou ruled till 256 BCE. Later the Qin captured Chengdu. The mandate of heaven philosophy carried on throughout ancient China.

    Scholars claim that Zhou may have invented Xia Dynasty and Mandate of heaven are both inventions of Zhou as it wanted to erase all the small states of Prehistoric china from history and replace it with Xia dynasty with one emperor.

    During Zhou china began to worship Tian (Heaven) instead of Shangdi (Clestial lord) and they created mandate of heaven. According to mandate of heaven there could be only one ruler of China at a time and this ruler was considered as the son of heaven. If a king ruled in unfair manner then it could lose the mandate of heaven.

    According to this concept it was not mandatory for the king to be of noble birth. He also didnt have any time limitations. If they wanted to keep the mandate they were expected to be just and good in their order to. The Zhous claimed that their rule was validated by Mandate of Heaven.
