How did the French Revolution change the national identify of the French people?

The French revolution of the 1789 changed the national identity of the french people in many drastic ways.

Perhaps the most notable outcome was that the "Class divisions" among the people somewhat got diluted. Not entirely but at least to a significant level. This decreased the discrimination towards people of the classes that was perceived to be "low".

The other major change is the acceptance of the power of the people and the country turning in to a republic from a monarchy. This significantly increased the individual freedom and many achievements, literature works, and other inventions followed.

In other words, the identity change the entire country went through became a major reason behind the France becoming a super power in the 20th century.
