    One of the earliest battles took place in Asia. All Spanish ships were either destroyed or captured outside the Santiago harbour.

    Explanation:

    The Spaniards and the Americans fought a war for ten long weeks in order to try to establish dominance over the other. Out of the few places the war was fought at, one was the Philippines which is in Asia. The destruction of Spanish ships made the Spanish side weaker and the war was won by America.
