Anglo-American settlement in Texas in the 1820s and 1830s:

a. Were discontent with the Mexican government because of the alcalde system, anti-slavery laws, and the required conversion to Catholicism.

b. did not exceed the Mexican population there until the United States annexed Texas in 1845.

c. took place without approval from the Mexican government. included no slaves, because Mexico had banned slavery in its territory.
