The Constitution required unanimous consent of states to be amended.

    Explanation:

The Articles of Confederation was the first American constitution, with an extremely limited central government.

The constitution requires the consent of about seventy percent of the states, but failed because it was difficult to pass any legislation that would affect all 13 states. So the government had very little power.

The constitution empowered the new government to regulate trade between the states by removing the issue of states' rights.

One of the main problems with the Articles of Confederation, is that the government had very little power. They could not tax, regulate trade or interstate commerce without the consent of seventy percent of the states. No one can agree all the time. The Constitution allowed the government to have more power and control, but still they were not like the British government, because the people still had their own power, and more importantly, God given rights.
