    I believe that the idea of a Roman Empire enduring in Europe 300 years after its fall is explained because the Roman Empire symbolized the idea of power and unity of a huge Empire. For political reasons, many emperors such as Charlemagne wanted to maintain this title so he could inspire an idea of Emperor and Empire that took almost all European countries.
