    B. Supported the Democratic party.

    Explanation:

In the second half of the 20th century, most African Americans voted for the Democratic Party because its leaders actively supported full civic rights for the black people (except for the Southern Democrats). President JF Kennedy supported and signed several laws favorable to them and it was his successor, Lyndon B. Johnson, who signed into law the Civil Rights Acts of 1964, ending all legal barriers to full equality between white and black citizens. So, in recent American history, most African American politicians have joined the Democratic Party, though the Republican Party has also been recruiting more black leaders lately. And of course, we know Barack Obama is a Democrat.
