    After Mussolini was dismissed as Prime Minister in 1943, the area of influence of Italian fascism was reduced to the Republic of Salò, which was dependent on the Third Reich, as a result of the Allied invasion, in which a reorganized Republican Fascist party continued the one-party dictatorship. In 1945 fascism in Italy ended with the liberation by the Allies.
