This catholic reformation was founded to be a counterforce against Protestantism. The formation of the council Trent was the main response from the catholic church for the reformation. This council opposed the doctrines raised and supported by reformers. It became the reason for the foundation of Protestantism (Jesuits) which is said to be one of the important branches of Christianity.
