It wasn't meant to use the word great as in good. It was using great in terms of size to explain the size of it. It was The Great Depression cause it effected everyone, but mostly in The United States and Europe. Industries fell, over 20 million people were unemployed, countries suffered from hyperinflation and stagnation. It effected everyone, so it was great in size, the biggest economic meltdown in history.
