Why did the Union join the Civil War, why did the Confederacy join the Civil War? What did the Union do that was not justified during the Civil War, what did the Confederacy do that was not justified during the Civil War?

The second question is more opinionated, but I'd like to know a few actions that you consider not justified.

The Union joined the Civil War so that they could bring back the Confederate States into the Union. The Confederacy left because Abraham Lincoln was elected president, and that he was against slavery and the South's beliefs.
