    Verney Lovett Cameron is the first European traveller to cross the African continent.

    Explanation:

    Verney was sent by Royal Geographical society to assist Dr. Livingstone. He left Zanzibar for an Individual expedition on Doctor's advice. Soon after he left, Reverend Doctor passed away.

    Verney sent his body to the coast and he continued his expedition. In Ujiji, he found Dr. Livingstone's papers and sent them to London. On 28th November 1875, he was the first European to travel across equatorial Africa. He published his travels under the title "Across Africa".
