    France's goals in exploring and conquering the Americas:

    The first exploration was made by Spain in the thought of expanding their religious expedition. They entered the new land to proselytize by making them follow Catholicism and spread it in a vast way.

    They even started exploring gold and silver which was available there and that has attracted the European nations to explore the new land. They even found Fur in large quantities and bought that in exchange for French goods and sold back in Europe for higher values as Fur was used a lot there.
