    Cherokees: chief John Ross wanted to stay neutral, but several months later, in an effort to preserve unity in the tribe, he signed the treaty. Creeks: signed a treaty despite opposition from the traditionalist Creeks. Choctaws and Chickasaws: no problem with signing treaty. Seminoles: a very divided nation signed a treaty. Western Indians: no problem with signing treaty
