The battle of Lexington and Concord represent the first shots fired in the American Revolutionary War, on April 19, 1775, near Boston.

Explanation:

On April 14, 1775, the British army in Boston received secret orders to stop the open rebellion in Massachusetts. General Gage decided to arrest rebel leaders and seize the militia's gunpowder stored at Concord, about twenty miles northwest of Boston. Some seven hundred redcoats marched to Lexington just to find Captain John Parker evoking a minutemen rebellion. When the British soldiers decided to get into the road to Concord the Americans decided to stop their advance. The Americans inflicted fourteen casualties, and by noon the British had begun a ragged retreat back to Lexington, where they were joined by reinforcements. By then the narrow road back to Boston had turned into a gauntlet of death as hundreds of rebels fired from behind stone walls, trees, barns, and houses, approximately 100 Minutemen and 250 British soldiers were killed.
