In certain ways Napoleon proceeded on his idea of revolution because he brought about the downfall of the Directory after the Directory had dethroned King Louis XVI. He came up with a new constitution as a replacement for the one that was developed by the Directory few years before that time. It is also perceived that he reversed the revolution because he was able to restore stability after the destructive bloody terror that tool place in 1973 and 1974.
