Massachusetts Bay Colony was established by Puritans who were a kind of Protestant English colonizers. Puritans were people who believed in theology that Churches needed to be cleansed from the traces of Catholicism.

Puritans were well educated as they are expected to learn the Gospel in order to lead a peaceful life. They traveled from Great Britain to Massachusetts in order to practice and spread Puritanism in America.

Puritans were religiously intolerant and hence they migrated from Netherlands in Great Britain which practiced liberalism.
