The so-called Lost Generation consisted of authors such as novelists and poets whose works primarily focused on their real-life experiences during the war.

After World War I, consumerism in America boomed. People are spending more than they earn. A drastic increase in consumption came along with higher wages, plenty of job opportunities. They took advantage of this opportunity because consumer goods were lacking during the war. But, sadly, it became too much. People think that America became too materialistic. Clearly, this was the aftermath of the Great War because then people devalue patriotism, courage, and faith.

Scott Fitzgerald who tackled decadence in his work, The Great Gatsby. The same goes with Ernest Hemingway's The Sun Also Rises and A Moveable Feast, partying and drinking played a big part.
