Why did the Chinese demand that the Portuguese traders pay for Chinese silks and porcelain with gold or silver?

    Chinese demand on the Portuguese traders:

    The Portuguese knew that the Chinese are inferior to the other and they would like to pay more for the things they bought. The European pay the Chinese in gold and silver because there was not anything else in the country.

    The Europeans wanted that the Chinese have to demand the Chinese silks and porcelain. The Europeans demanded the Chinese silks, porcelain and other Chinese good, exotic luxuries creating a huge demand in the country and to driving the price up for these things in Europe.
