World War II ended with the use of the first atomic bombs used in human history. The bombs were dropped on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, on August 6 and 9, 1945, respectively. These bombs became known as Little boy and Fat man, because of their shapes and the explosiveness of each one.

The atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima (known as Little boy) had a destructive power equivalent to 16 thousand tons of TNT, that is, 16 kilotons, and the bomb dropped on Nagasaki (the Fat man), around 20 thousand kilotons. Despite the damage done, the nuclear bombs used in World War II are not among the most powerful nuclear bombs ever made in the world.
