Chief Joseph or Joseph the young was the chief of native Indian tribe Wallowa of Nez Perce. He is still remembered for his retaliation against the united states for their forced removal from their native land. He with his band fought the Nez Perce war against the army of the United States and his strong will and military tactics won admiration from the people of the United States. His statement that he who could not protect his fatherland is worse than a wild beast, showed his love for tribal land.
