What were some of the positive things that the British East India Company did in India

British ruled over India for around 200 years. Britishers and their company did exploit India extensively. But they still had a few positive impacts. One of the major positive changes that British East India company did was the development of communication and transportation methods. Railways were laid which permitted convenient long-distance travel.

Also, since more medicinal facilities were available, death toll decreased. This led to increase in population of India which in turn increased the production of goods.
