What advantages did the south have over the north during the civil war?

The advantages the South (confederacy) had over the North (Union) are as follows:

b. They were experienced with firearms and marksmen. They had skills in the use of guns and horses.

c. They knew the territory and the South fought to main its way of life.

d. They had strong backings and motivation. They also had better leadership.

The Civil war between the South and the North was started from 1861 and ended 1865. The American Civil war began under the leadership of some generals. Such as Stonewall Jackson, Robert E. Lee and J. E. B Stuart, all of the South. The North had Abraham Lincoln among others. The South had well trained and skilled Generals as opposed to the Generals in the North. General McClellan was fired by Abraham Lincoln as he was not proud of the Military Leaders.

Most of the fights took place within the Confederate territory. This gave the South troops an edge, as they knew the land more than the North (Union).
