Mughals were adherents of islam. In fact, they are the remnants of the Mongolian empire that embraced islam as the mighty Mongolian empire declined.

The Hinduism in the northern region of India was threatened severely because of the arrival of the mughals. In the years afterwards, many Hindu people were forcefully converted into the islam and several taxes were introduced against the Hindu people.

Moreover, Hindu cultural traditions, ceremonies and religious rituals got banned and the Hindu kingdoms moved further in to the southern and eastern regions of India.
