The women's suffrage movement had little success before the 1900s because there was a general disagreement on how to apply the suffrage and push for the constitutional amendments to the changing of the state laws. In addition, the purpose was generally defeated by the anti-suffrage groups. These groups were led by women. This was out of the sheer fear of a lose women morality among the groups. In addition, the some of the women were worried about the place of men in the society, in other words, the real role and definition of manhood would be lost under this movement.
