European colonialism lasted from fifteenth century and involved European powers extending their reach to colonies in America, Africa and Asia. They acquired colonies and wanted the settlers to occupy in order to exhaust the resources economically

    Explanation:

The settlers occupying their colonies in the foreign lands ensured the forced migration of the native and indigenous people to less desirable lands. Africa was colonized by European settlers who desired to dominate Africa by taking the parts of entire Africa under the control of Europeans. Scramble of Africa ensured that Britain took the largest part of Africa under their control and the second largest European power which colonized Africa is France.

The intention behind the imperialism and colonization is that Africa is rich in its natural resources and slaves from Africa were exported to European countries through transatlantic trade. Many Africans became laborers in the mines and agricultural plantations owned by Europeans. Europeans believed that they lived in the best possible world and hence decided to inject the cultural aspect into the country through the colonies. They started to build ports and schools and communication systems which modernized the country. Sometimes European powers extended their protectorate attitude on the colonies taking the control of it both strategically and militarily.
