What did the passing of the thirteenth amendment accomplish?

    abolished slavery and involuntary servitude, except as punishment for a crime

    so basically it was illegal and unethical to have slaves or make someone work against their will. unless its criminals doing service hours or something.

    It made black men and women legally equal, but not culturally
