Direct democracy is when each individual has an input in government decisions. Indirect democracy, also known as Republic, is when the states have representatives that represent them in making those decisions. The people in the states vote on a decision, and their representatives represent whatever side had the majority of votes on.

Indirect democracy, or representative democracy, is when citizens elect representatives to make laws for them. This is what most modern countries have today ... Direct democracy is where citizens themselves vote for or against specific proposals or laws.
