Why did President Harry S. Truman decide to hit the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki with two atomic bombs in 1945? A) He knew doing so would win him another term as U. S. President. B) He wanted revenge of the Japan's use of atomic bombs on Pearl Harbor. C) He agreed to do it because Germany was ready to use an atomic bomb on England. D) He hoped to prevent a ground invasion of Japan and save the lives of American soldiers.
