How did the growth of plantations contribute to the rise of slavery?

    As plantation became extremely important to meet the demands of a growing population and as the rise of the international trade made plantation sector more profitable, more and more slaves were required to work in this plantation sector. This is mainly because the technology at the time was non complex and the plantation sector heavily relied upon the manual labour.
