Switzerland was a neutral country during the First World War, and as such, it was a haven for many artists across Europe. There have been some changes in the arts in Switzerland. Thus a new direction was created, known as Dadaism. It is a movement that originated in Zurich in 1916 and spoke of the nonsense of a civilization that destroys its values.

As can be seen from the very definition of direction, the artists were inspired by the destruction of war and launched a new course. Some escaped directly from reality, as in the case of Giorgio de Chirico and Carlo Carra, who fled the war in one psychiatric hospital and created. This is how great works of late Surrealism were created.
