People from various walks of life came together to improve living conditions, limiting business houses and to make government work better, apart from these issues progressives opposed immigration and enacted various immigration restrictions during 1920s and forced the immigrants to adopt their moral beliefs. They used settlement houses to promote their beliefs, many progressives also joined Ku Klux Klan.
