How did the Chinese reaction to foreigners reflect how they felt about their own culture?

    The Chinese reacted to the foreigners by refusing to accept to trade with the foreigners because they considered foreign products to be inferior to the products made by the Chinese.

    The British wanted to sell their opium to the Chinese, but the Chinese were afraid that it'd drain the country of it's silver, and would result in the people to be addicted to the medicinal drug. Which resulted in the Chinese to ban the Opium Trade from ever happening.
