The uprisings of warlords and foreign imperialism weakened China which eventually lead to the May Fourth Movement. Since China was weakened, other countries took this approach and ended up taking advantage of China. The May Fourth Movement started on May 4, 1919, and was originated by the protesting of students to stop imperialism. They wanted to put an end to imperialism and stop cultural wars.
