While settlements were going on among the imperial power to decide the fate of the Ottoman Empire after the First World War, internal developments were going on in the Arabian peninsula. Abdul Aziz later known as Ibn Saud, created the third Islamic State by capturing Al Ahsa and Al Saud. He avoided the Arab revolt against foreigners and continued to expand his territories. In 1921 he became Sultan of Nejd and in 1926 declared himself King Of Hejaz. Finally, in 1932 he combined the kingdom of Nejd and Hejaz to form the kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
