Which of these steps in the lawmaking process might happen after a bill is sent to the president?

A bill is sent to the president after both the House of Representatives and the Senate have voted for a common version of the bill. Then the president signs the document and it becomes a law.

But another possibility is that the president vetoes the bill because he doesn't agree with it as a whole or with parts of it. A veto means he will not sign it and sends it back to lawmakers. Congress can overrun the president's veto with a two-thirds vote of the members of the two chambers and then the bill turns into law.
