    The Boxer Rebellion.

    Explanation:

    The Boxer Rebellion of 1900 attempted to drive out foreigners from China. It started among peasants but the Qing government backed it later. A secret society called Yihequan (Righteous and Harmonious Fists) also played an important role. Their aim at first was to topple the decandent Qing dynasty and expel foreigners who had won much privileges in China. Western missionaries and Chinese converts to Christianity became targets of the rebels. The uprising in northern China spurred a military intervention by many Western countries. It was suffocated.
