Explanation:

The main author of the Declaration of Independence was Thomas Jefferson, widely admired for his eloquence. The text was corrected by Benjamin Fraklin and John Adams and sent to the Continental Congress delegates meeting in Philadelphia. The process of consideration and revision went on since July 2 to the morning of July 4, 1776. One fifth of the original text was deleted and revised. The members of the Congress finally adopted the definite version of the document (most of Jefferson's text was upheld) later on that day.
