    (D) little barriers to hinder traveling larger distances

    Explanation:

Small towns have perks of its own. First of all they are very affordable and much more peaceful than the crowded city life. There are fewer crowds, and the hustle-bustle of the busy citylife and the small town life is much more relaxed and slower in pace. The living cost in a small town is much more lower than the city life. There is less traffic, making travelling easy and less time consuming. This saves the time and also the gas money for the car.
