When Europeans began settling in the America's and building large plantations, there were already enough native people there to provide a labor force. Why did Europeans merchants start shipping slaves from Africa to the colonies of the Americas instead of hiring native Americans

    Europeans started shipping African slaves in America because they didn't speak the same language nor were they familiar with the land. Furthermore African slaves wouldn't succumb to diseases as easily as Native Americans.

    The American Indians were not as submissive

    Explanation:

    The Native Americans first of all could not speak the same language as the Europeans so there already was a language barrier then on top of that they were already free and did not understand the concept of slavery so bringing the already made English slaves to the America's was a cheaper and easier way to get labor.
