    The mandatory duties of every citizen include of: Obeying the law. Every U. S. citizen must obey federal, state and local laws, and pay the penalties that can be incurred when a law is broken.

    Paying taxes

    Serving on a jury when summoned.

    Registering with the Selective Service.

    Also some of the responsibilities include of: Support and defend the Constitution.

    Stay informed of the issues affecting your community.

    Participate in the democratic process.

    Respect and obey federal, state, and local laws.

    Respect the rights, beliefs, and opinions of others.

    Participate in your local community.

    Examples: Duty of care.

    Duty of candour.

    Duty to defend and duty to settle, in insurance.

    Duty to rescue.

    Duty to retreat.

    Duty to report a felony.
