In what way did the ending of the Eastern front affect the western front

The Russian Revolution instigated by the Germanic Empire put a hold on the eastern front freeing up more supplys that the Empire could move to the western front putting a lot more stress on the allied efforts to move forward with the war until the peace treaty was signed.
