Colonization of New Mexico by the Spanish saw a great deal of intercultural relations, and transmission of knowledge, but it would be fundamentally affected by the religious factors. Specifically, the missionaries tried to banish the Kashina religion from the Pueblo, and this was the key cause in the Pope rebellion in 1680.
