    The Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776.

    The French Alliance (1778) was an agreement by France to aid the American colonies.

    The Battle of Yorktown started on September 28, 1781.

    The Treaty of Paris was signed in 1783.

    Shays' Rebellion began in 1786.

    The Constitution was signed on September 17, 1787.
