2. How are the Sunni and Shiites different in their beliefs?

Shiites believe the Prophet Mohammed should have been succeeded by his son-in-law, Imam Ali, and leadership of the Muslim world should pass through the prophet's descendants. Sunnis don't believe the leadership of the Muslim world should necessarily pass through hereditary succession.

While the both Sunnis and Shiites follow the path of Islam but there is a one thing which makes them differ from each other. The belief about the continuity of religious authorization of both Sunnis and Shiites are not same. The belief of Sunni and Shiites are different as follows;

The Shiites consider that Prophet Mohammed should have been accomplished by Imam Ali (his son-in-law) and the authority of the Muslim world shall pass through the Prophet's successor.

While the religious beliefs of Sunnis are different from Shiites, Sunnis trust that the leadership of the Muslim world should undergo hereditary succession.
