    Mostly through colonies. British colonies were rich in resource so through industrialization, Britain could gather the most resources to secure them a better position on the market. Europe saw this effect and followed the British. For example the Dutch colony of Indonesia had a large amount of rubber, so by industrializing, they could gather this resource more efficiently.
