Due to the native islanders had been seen by Europeans as an inferior nation of peoplee, they were enslaved and forced to work in labors and mines in inhumane conditions. In addition, as a way of testing whether their blades or knives were sharp enough, Europeans used the natives' skin as a reference by cutting them. In this way, many natives ended up dying due to the bad treatment of the Europeans.
