    Racial violence and segregation

    Explanation:

Black people fought heroically in every war since the American Revolution believing that they would be rewarded with great civil rights and freedom. This never happened due to white supremacy, after returning from war they faced racial discrimination, segregation and debt peonage. The army became rigidly segregated and majority of black troops were sent to labor duties. Racial violence worsen and lead to a massacre 1917 that left over one hundred black people dead and their entire neighborhood reduced to ashes.
